Castle Rock Cody, Wyoming

Yellowstone Tracks of the StoneBear

Cody, Wyoming Labor Day 08

Staying an extra day in Cody to rest up and see some local sights.

Past noon drove out to Buffalo Bill state park for a picnic samich. This is Buffalo Bill country. Later on if there's enough time today will stop at the Buffalo Bill Historical center.

But for now this is a beautiful lake / reservoir with the Absoroka mountains on the northwest side of the lake.

Continued down Hwy 291, a designated scenic byway, for about 30 miles. Beautiful Wyoming ranch / farm country. and came to the real -- Castle Rock.

This is a dead end canyon so head back to Cody. Was a good afternoon drive.

On a recommendation of a local inquiry, stayed at the Skyline motel; very good! Clean, well kept, low rates ~$55, close to downtown, and the owner, Roger... looks like Buffalo Bill -- spitin' image no joke. ... and a nice guy.
